Beausoleil Broussard
In 2020, Nation Prospère established an Acadian Heritage Advisory Committee made up of seven Maritime historians, all experts in Acadian history. Members of this committee worked on the research and then on the nomination of Joseph Broussard dit Beausoleil in May 2021 as a person of national historic significance. Other files surrounding events and people of national historic significance are also under review.
Beausoleil Broussard's designation as a person of national significance was announced by the federal government on August 15, 2023 and the commemorative plaque unveiled at Moncton's Bore Park on 14 November 2025. Steps continue to develop a commemoration project surrounding the legacy of this leader of the Acadian resistance during the Great Upheaval.
